In portfolio: Modern Paisley
For my mom’s Christmas present, I designed labels for her homemade skincare products. She planned to give creams, serums, and lip balm away as gifts and she wanted them to look attractive and professional. Instead of making labels that scream “homemade” and “crafted,” I wanted to take her labels one step further and create a brand. Who knows, maybe she’ll decide to sell them one day!
Growing up, she encouraged me to make things to gift and/or sell. She always says that the most meaningful gifts are handmade. It’s truly a labor of love to exercise your creativity and make something for someone. In a way, these labels are a way to show my appreciation to her for passing on her love for creativity and design.
I came up with the name “Modern Paisley” when I was brainstorming different print ideas. One of the things I thought of was a paisley print, since it’s one of her favorites. I wrote down some ideas about what the paisley pattern would look like, and wrote, “updated, modern paisley,” and thought that was a perfect brand name for her.
After designing the labels, I printed them out on a shimmery, silver paper. I’m really happy with how they turned out!
